LVISD Extends Closure Through April 21

LVISD has created a Critical Updates webpage to provide you with the latest information on how we are responding to the COVID-19 situation.

Our Critical Updates page includes our updated situation summary, Distance Learning Program and student nutrition information, and FAQs and facts about COVID-19 from health officials. Bookmark this page to find accurate information about the status of LVISD as this situation evolves.

Our most recent District Health Update will also be posted below for your convenience.

March 23, 2020

Dear La Vernia ISD Community,

LVISD is committed to keeping you informed regarding ongoing developments in the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Earlier today, the Wilson County Commissioners Court approved an Executive Order extending the Wilson County Declaration of Public Health Emergency through April 21, 2020. This order includes guidance prohibiting the gathering of more than ten persons in an enclosed space. In keeping with this Executive Order and the most recent recommendations from local, state, and federal public health officials, La Vernia ISD will join all Wilson County school districts in extending the closure of our schools through April 21, 2020.

We are focused on ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of our students, staff, and community while promoting instructional continuity and high-quality learning at home. Our new Distance Learning Program (https://www.lvisd.org/Page/3635) was created to help your students continue their academic growth through skill-building activities via our Distance Learning Portal (https://bit.ly/LVISD-Distance-Learning). Paper distance learning materials are also available for families who may not have access to the internet at home, and we anticipate being able to continue providing student meals during this extended closure as well. We encourage our families to bookmark our Distance Learning Program page, stay in touch with their student’s teachers, and contact our Curriculum & Instruction team at distancelearninghelp@lvisd.org with questions about Distance Learning in LVISD.

We also encourage you to monitor your email and our district Critical Updates page (https://www.lvisd.org/Page/3634) for current and accurate information about the status of our district and resources from public health officials. District leaders will continue our conversation with public health officials about when school can safely resume and provide you with updates via email, our website, and social media. If you feel you may not be receiving email updates from LVISD, please send your name, your student’s name(s), and a current email address to communications@lvisd.org.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and schools. We remain dedicated to providing for you and your family as we make our way through this uncharted territory together. We are here for you and your children – always.

Sincerely,

La Vernia ISD Administration and Board of Trustees
