LVISD Trustees Announce Hiring of Primary School Principal
The La Vernia ISD Board of Trustees approved and announced the hiring of Shelley Keck as the principal of the La Vernia Primary School at their Regular Board Meeting on April 15, 2019.
Ms. Keck brings 19 years of experience in education to the position and holds a master’s degree from Trinity University as well as a superintendent’s certification from Sul Ross University.
“We are thrilled that Shelley is joining the La Vernia ISD team,” said Board President Cynthia Buerkle. “Her experience and credentials make her exactly the kind of strong and knowledgeable leader our Primary School students, families, teachers, and staff deserve.”
Prior to accepting a position with LVISD, Ms. Keck served students and families as an elementary school teacher in the Judson Independent School District, and most recently spent 11 years serving as a school principal in a neighboring community.
“I have full confidence that Shelley’s leadership ability and work ethic make her an outstanding principal,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Trent Lovette. “Best of all, she loves the La Vernia community and is deeply committed to being part of a team and doing what is best for all La Vernia ISD students.”
A La Vernia graduate, Ms. Keck and her husband are also La Vernia residents, along with their children. It has been Ms. Keck’s “dream” to return to the La Vernia community in service to LVISD students and staff.
“I want to thank the Board of Trustees, Dr. Lovette, and the hiring committee for this wonderful opportunity,” Ms. Keck said. “As a La Vernia graduate, I am truly honored and proud to come home. My goal is to support the staff and students at the Primary as we continue the work to grow bears. Bear pride runs deep in my heart and I am thankful to serve you.”
