District Educational Excellence Council
-
In compliance with Texas Education Code § 11.251, the LVISD District Educational Excellence Council (DEEC) shall advise the Board or its designee in establishing and reviewing the District's educational goals, objectives, and major districtwide classroom instructional programs identified by the Board or its designee. This Council is made up of teachers, parents, business leaders, and community members, and it serves in an advisory role. The DEEC also approves district-wide staff development.
Throughout the year, the DEEC will meet to discuss the District Improvement Plan (DIP). The DIP serves to guide La Vernia ISD toward the improvement of student performance for all students in order to attain the state standard with respect to the academic excellence indicators established by the state of Texas. The Council also meets to discuss and vote on school calendars, student code of conduct, and other DEEC matters as they arise.
Parents, teachers, and community members are invited to join the Council or may be voted in by their campus staff. Members serve for two years once elected and do not have term limits, according to district policy. The DEEC meets twice per year at a minimum. Other meetings may be called as needed throughout the year.
