Meet LVISD Monitors and SRO's
-
Each campus is also staffed with a safety and security monitor. Monitors working in our schools not only ensure the safety and security throughout the school day but also work to build relationships and serve as mentors to our students. Safety monitors also work closely with the administration to meet the needs of the campus. Feel free to come and meet our staff. They would love to hear from you.

La Vernia ISD School Resource Officer
As a law enforcement officer, the School Resource Officer responds to all types of offenses on campus, takes reports, investigates criminal offenses involving youth, both on and off-campus, acting as both the first responding investigator and an expert in juvenile law. This allows for a thorough investigation by officers most familiar with the needs of children. School Resource Officers enforce violations of the law only, and do not enforce school rules, nor is their presence used to “persuade” compliance.
Most importantly, School Resource Officers are there to "bridge the gap between Cops and Kids." To do this, Officers work under what is called the Triad-Concept of Policing. Using this philosophy, an officer often acts as an Educator, Counselor, and Law Enforcement Officer within the school environment.
SROs are fully sworn, peace officers. However, they receive additional training that is specific to the school positions, which maximizes the officer's effectiveness in the school setting. The SRO works to protect and maintain a safe and secure environment for educators and students. The SRO investigates and takes appropriate actions related to criminal activity occurring on the assigned campus.
