Junior High Haitian Fundraiser

I am pleased to announce that La Vernia Junior High School raised $1,352.12 for the Haitian Relief American Red Cross Fund. The BBCA Compass Bank agreed to double what we raised so we were able to contribute $2,706.24!!! It is amazing. The fundraiser was idea of two of our 7th grade students, Brooke Gatley and Courtney Elrod. They organized the event, advertised, collected and counted the money. They were under the supervision of Mrs. Dawn Ramzinski, LVJHS Science teacher. These young ladies are remarkable. The fundraiser lasted one week. It was a campus wide competition between advisories. The winning classes will receive a pizza party. The winner of the 6th grade was Ms. Herron’s class which raised $248.00. Mrs. Hanselka’s 7th grade class raised $661.00. Finally, Ms. Farris’ 8th grade class raised $101.48. I am very proud of the altruistic efforts of the students of La Vernia Junior High.
