Primary Team Competes in World Finals
June 19, 2009
We are so excited at La Vernia Primary to announce that one of our Odyssey of the Mind teams advanced to the World Finals in Ames Iowa. This group of young children competed in a regional tournament in Taylor, Texas and advanced to the state level in Houston. Finally they were off to the World Tournament at Iowa State University.
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition for students of all ages. This group of very young students selected a problem, created a solution, and presented their solution in a competition against other teams in the same problem and division. In addition, to test the creativity of the team children must complete a spontaneous problem at each level of competition.
In Iowa, the children competed against teams from all over the world. The children were introduced to children from China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada, Poland, South Carolina, Florida and the list continues. In attendance were 6,500 children in all.
La Vernia Primary is proud to report that out of 53 teams in our division, La Vernia Primary is 31.
Thanks to everyone who supported these fine young students.
